Our Story
A Note from Our Founders
Hi, we’re Deanna and Sye—partners in life and in the belief that soulful living starts with surrounding yourself with meaningful things. West Coast Curio Design began as a passion project, rooted in our shared love for the past, for craftsmanship, and for stories waiting to be rediscovered.
Deanna holds a degree in English Literature and has always been drawn to art, music, and the written word. Sye, a History major and certified Master Arborist, brings a deep connection to the natural world—especially trees, woodcraft, and the quiet wisdom of outdoor spaces. That love of nature shows up in our sourcing: hand-turned bowls, organic textures, and pieces that bring the outside in.
Sye was born on Maui and raised between the island and Palm Springs—so island rhythm, West Coast cool, and desert stillness all weave into his perspective. Deanna was born in Buffalo, NY and raised in Palm Springs, moving on to the Central Coast for a decade and the mountains for a bit. She's shaped by a blend of East Coast candor and California ease. The South Bay has been home for almost 25 years. We found that Redondo Beach is where the ocean breeze, creative energy, and close-knit community fuel our vision. For Sye, it's the surf, for Deanna it's beach walks and recreational photography.
We both have full-time careers outside of WCCD, but this work is what fills our creative well. Together, we spend our weekends picking through estate sales, hunting for soulful pieces, and imagining the new homes they’ll live in. We believe things were made better in the past—designed with intention and meant to last—and that a well-lived home is layered, storied, and sustainable.
We’re also proud parents in a blended family. Deanna’s daughter lives and works in the South Bay. Sye’s sons are carving their own paths—one studying Animal Sciences at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, the other beginning his journey at Arizona State’s School of Broadcasting. As we support them through school, West Coast Curio Design is our shared labor of love—and a step toward our dream of one day opening a storefront and retiring back to Maui.
Thanks for being part of our journey! We hope the pieces you find here speak to your story, too.
With gratitude,
Deanna & Sye

Curating with Soul
At West Coast Curio Design, we believe your home should tell a story—one layered with time, texture, and intention. Each item we source is part of a bigger narrative: where it came from, who made it, and how it might live again. Our journey begins in coastal California but reaches into history, culture, and craft around the world.
The Beauty of What Came Before
We’re not trend-chasers—we’re treasure hunters. Every piece in our collection has been thoughtfully selected for its design, character, and ability to spark joy. Whether it’s a studio-made ceramic, a forgotten first edition, or a perfect piece of folk art, we celebrate the patina, the past, and the perfectly imperfect.
Sustainable. Personal. Irreplaceable.
We’re proud to champion sustainability—not just through reuse, but by encouraging slow, intentional design. Our finds are meant to last, be loved, and live well beyond fast trends. When you bring a piece from WCCD into your home, you’re not just decorating—you’re collecting with care.

Art piece was exactly how described and pictured. Deanna was very personable and pleasant to interact with, we had about a 10 minute conversation about vintage things. 10/10 human.
