This solid brass belt buckle was crafted in the 1970s by Tech Ether Guild Inc., a small artisan foundry based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Known for their high-quality red brass castings, Tech Ether Guild specialized in wearable art—each piece hand-finished and often inspired by nature, mythology, or American landscapes. Their buckles weren’t mass-produced; they were sold in select gift shops and boutiques and often collected like small pieces of sculpture.
Titled Seascape I, this particular buckle captures a windswept coastal scene with jagged rocks and a solitary seabird in flight. It’s moody, minimal, and a little cinematic—bringing to mind the untamed California coastline. Cast in warm-hued red brass, the buckle has developed a gorgeous natural patina over time.
Collectors have begun rediscovering Tech Ether Guild’s work in recent years, recognizing the exceptional detail, craftsmanship, and mid-century design ethos these pieces offer. Scarcer designs like this one—especially nature scenes—are climbing in value and becoming increasingly hard to source.
We love the round, low-profile shape—easy to style with a flowy white blouse, your best jeans, and boots, wedges, or bare feet. Unisex and full of soul.
Stamped “Solid Brass” and marked with the official Tech Ether Guild insignia on the reverse. Fits a standard 1.5" belt.
